 in the United States of America on July 11.  We are looking for about 50 S
 outh Carolinians who will join us in this incredible effort to clean the h
 istoric Lynches River in Florence County.  \n\nParticipants are encouraged
  to bring loppers\, saws\, gloves\, waders\, and determination!\n\nThe his
 toric and recreational values of the “Lynches River and Great Pee Dee Rive
 r were recognized when a 66-mile section was designated The Revolutionary 
 Rivers National Recreation Trail of South Carolina. The Lynches Scenic Riv
 er designation extends approximately 111 river miles from US Highway 15 in
  Lee County to the confluence with the Great Pee Dee River in Florence Cou
 nty.\nAlong its winding course\, the Lynches River passes through a varied
  landscape of pine uplands\, farms\, rural crossroads\, and deep swamp for
 est. Special features include numerous small islands and sloughs\, intermi
 ttent bluffs\, bottomland hardwood wetlands\, and artesian wells. Of parti
 cular historic interest is Snow's Island\, an area of swampland formed in 
 the convergence of Lynches River\, Clark Creek and the Great Pee Dee River
 . Snow's Island is designated as a National Historic Landmark and listed i
 n the National Register of Historic Places\, because of its significance a
 s a Revolutionary War campsite and retreat for General Francis Marion\, th
 e Swamp Fox\, and his forces.“
